Amanda Neal, LPC
Hello – thank you for your interest in wanting to learn a bit about me. My name is Amanda Neal and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Education degree in Professional Counseling from Cambridge College. I also have a Master of Science degree in Human Services from Capella University. I have over eight years of counseling experience working with diverse populations including individuals with psychiatric and co-occurring substance use disorders, as well as individuals experiencing psychological trauma. I support the LGBTQ+ community and have familiarity working with people on the autism spectrum. My strong dedication to providing comprehensive and holistic treatment helps me to communicate effectively with people of all backgrounds. I am skilled at working collaboratively to help resolve problems and I offer a compassionate, empathic, non-judgmental demeanor.
I believe that personal growth continues throughout the lifespan and approach therapy with the holistic belief that individuals have the power within themselves to create change - in whatever area of life they may desire (to manage substance use; to cope with grief/depression/anxiety/anger/dissatisfaction/impulsivity/indecision; to better understand relationships; to build skills; to develop insight, etc.). My focus is on establishing a therapeutic relationship based on trust that supports, encourages, and motivates my clients to achieve their goals.
Using cognitive behavioral therapies, I help individuals possess the power to better know and accept themselves, challenge distorted thinking, and build confidence. I also utilize trauma focused care, DBT-informed exercises, and motivational interviewing techniques as part of an integrative view to therapeutic application. The core principles of compassion, positive self-regard and congruence are imperative to successful treatment. I emphasize respect, transparency, and empathy to meet the various needs of diverse clients.
