Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to learn what we do, who we are, and what we believe in here at Positive Mind Counseling, LLC. I don’t want to waste any time by having you read a condensed paragraph of my experience, skills, schooling, etc, because, honestly, that is just plain boring.  But what I would like you to know, is that I am a competent clinical social worker with over 13 years of experience in various settings and communities. I truly believe in meeting individuals, families, and couples where they are at to begin to effectively identify their wants and needs for change while developing their strengths.  I offer a supportive environment that allows you to feel comfortable, empowered, challenged, and understood.  I can be funny, empathetic, thoughtful, and creative in our work together, which I feel makes a huge difference in the progress of the clients I work with.

In sessions, we will collaborate on the barriers, challenges, or issues that you are facing that is preventing you from experiencing a positive life.  Our work together can help you create your sense of self, learn and utilize positive coping mechanisms, challenge potential avoidances, explore your negative thought processes, identify unhealthy vs healthy behaviors, reflect on past experiences, increase your self-esteem, develop realistic plans of self-care, increase your ability to stand up for yourself or set boundaries, effectively manage your child’s difficult behavior, learn ways to reconnect with your partner, transition into young adulthood, learn ways to build friendships, navigate the world of being transgender, walk by your side through your journey of grief.  In sessions, we will laugh, cry, vent, scream, and sometimes just be……the process is sacred and your willingness to allow yourself to be vulnerable and open to change is the first step in making an appointment.

I often say to clients that “finding the right therapist is like trying on a new pair of shoes, sometimes they are comfortable right out of the box, or sometimes you walk in them for awhile and decide they aren’t so comfortable and they just sit in the back of your closet.”  My goal is to allow you to feel comfortable from the start as you begin your journey of transformation.  I also understand and value the importance of supporting you in making a referral to trusted colleague that would be a “better fit” for you and your needs.  We are all in this together, this thing we call life, let me help you make it more positive and fulfilling!
